Sortilemn high-efficiency cogeneration plant, Gherla
The “High-Efficiency Biomass Cogeneration Plant” (CHPP) project consisted of the installation and commissioning of a biomass-fired thermal-oil boiler and an ORC (organic Rankine cycle) turbogenerator, together with all the additional services and equipment needed for automatic operation, for the purpose of the simultaneous production of heat (namely, 5,400 kW of hot water at 95/75 °C and 1,200 kW of superheated water at 150/125 °C) and electricity.
Within this project, ELM Electromontaj Cluj carried out the following:
- Design, execution and commissioning: “Turbogenerator connection installation to the power grid”.
- Execution: “Electrical installations for the Boiler”.
- Electrical connection installations between the boiler’s electrical board and the auxiliary equipment, the boiler’s associated devices / instruments.
- Execution: “Electrical installations for the Turbogenerator”.
- Electrical connection installations between the turbogenerator’s electrical board and the auxiliary equipment, the turbogenerator’s associated devices / instruments.
- Execution: “Emergency power supply installation”
- Design and execution: “Electrical installations (normal and emergency lighting installations, as well as power electrical installations) and telecommunications for the buildings - administrative block, turbogenerator hall, boiler hall, biomass store, feed shed”.
- Execution: “Turbogenerator hall ventilation installations”.
The plant produces 1.3 MW of electricity and almost 7 MW of heat and covers three quarters of the energy demand of the beneficiary. Through this investment, the company uses the wood waste it generates, thereby significantly reducing both its energy costs and its polluting emissions.
