Electrical substations

We carry out design and execution works for new transformer substations or modernisation/retrofitting works for existing ones. In the execution of substations we aim to meet the specific requirements of the electricity distributors and/or those of the transmission operator so as to ensure the reliability and flexibility of the installations, as well as the optimisation of the land surface used. ELM Electromontaj offers complete solutions in the construction of transformer substations of up to 400 kV:
  • Feasibility study;
  • Solution study for integration into the system;
  • The technical design and execution details;
  • Solutions for connecting the substations to the National Energy System through overhead power lines (LEA) or underground power lines (LES);
  • Primary circuits, secondary circuits - equipment installation, control & protection, metering, SCADA, automation, communications;
  • Construction, installations, architecture etc;
  • Roads and land development;
  • Soil investigation: topography, geology, technical expertise.
In the case of substation modernisations, the process is carried out without total interruption, by establishing technological execution processes that allow the operation to be stopped on distinct sections of installations and to be carried out in stages so that the operation of the modernised substations is affected as little as possible or not at all. Among the technologies used in substation modernisation works are also the following:
  • Installation of tubular Al busbars and their jointing by means of bolted clamps - a less costly procedure, with easy transport, achievable in any temperature conditions; it is not necessary to install the entire section, temporary arrangements can be made and it allows the installation to be kept in operation;
  • Repair and consolidation of concrete elements with modern technologies, consolidation of elements with carbon fibre where the reinforcement is damaged;
  • Reuse of existing foundations by embedding bolts with epoxy resins in them and replacing the concrete equipment supports with metal supports
