Overhead Power Line 400 kV Porțile de Fier – Slatina The 400 kV PORȚILE DE FIER – SLATINA overhead line, part of the project to close Romania’s 400 kV Ring in the south-west, represents a major investment for Romania and plays an essential role both for the country’s energy security and for the development of the local economy. Once the works are completed, it will be possible to install around 1,000 MW of electricity generation capacity from renewable sources, which marks an important step in the whole process Romania has to go through towards a green energy transition. The ELM Electromontaj teams make a significant contribution to this project, bringing extensive experience in the field and well-trained people specialised in this type of work. Like any large-scale project, this one was not without its challenges, but our colleagues mobilised successfully and managed to deliver outstanding results within an extremely tight timeframe. The works were carried out mainly in the Porțile de Fier area, crossing over the railway and over the national road, so additional safety operations were required. At the same time, the pace of execution was constrained by the local traffic as well as by the train timetable (the works being possible only when the railway line was de-energised).
